Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1, has facilitated a reconciliation between the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, and the Lagos State Chairman of the union, Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Tafa Sego.
The reconciliation took place at Ojusagbola in Ijebu, Ogun State, in the presence of several NURTW chieftains. The development was announced on Tuesday through Kwam 1’s digital media page on Instagram, which shared photographs from the meeting and described the development as a resolution of the longstanding disagreement between the two former allies.
According to the post, Kwam 1 intervened in his capacity as the Mayegun of Yorubaland to facilitate an end to the rift. It stated that the meeting was intended to achieve a lasting reconciliation rather than another public display of unity, adding that both MC Oluomo and Tafa Sego were pleased with the outcome.
The disagreement between the two NURTW figures has previously been linked to leadership and control of the union’s operations in Lagos. In January 2019, MC Oluomo was injured during violence at an APC campaign rally at the Sky Power Ground in Ikeja, Lagos, amid a reported clash involving supporters of the two men. Sego was subsequently declared wanted by the police in connection with the incident.
Despite the earlier dispute, Sego was later appointed to the caretaker committee of the NURTW led by MC Oluomo in September 2019. Tensions within the Lagos chapter of the union resurfaced in subsequent years, particularly over its leadership structure.
In January 2024, MC Oluomo resigned as chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the NURTW amid a leadership crisis. A meeting facilitated by the Lagos State Government subsequently resulted in changes to the union’s leadership structure, with MC Oluomo stepping aside from the Lagos chairmanship.
The latest reconciliation also follows renewed tension at Kwam 1’s New Year All White Party in Lagos on January 2, 2026. A video from the event showed a reaction from individuals associated with Tafa Sego’s camp after the musician publicly recognised MC Oluomo as the NURTW leader. Kwam 1 subsequently appealed to the union’s leaders to resolve their differences.
The Ojusagbola meeting therefore represents another intervention by the Fuji musician in the longstanding disagreement. His digital media team said the two NURTW leaders had now settled their differences, describing the reconciliation as final.
