The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has placed the country on high alert following the ongoing Ebola Virus Disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The NCDC Director-General, Jide Idris, disclosed this in a health advisory issued on Wednesday, saying the agency had activated precautionary measures to strengthen the country’s preparedness against any potential threat.
According to the agency, the measures are being reviewed regularly in line with developments in the outbreak and ongoing assessment of the public health risk.
As part of the enhanced surveillance, the NCDC directed travellers arriving from countries with active or relevant Ebola transmission to complete the Health Declaration Form.
It said travellers from countries without relevant Ebola transmission are currently exempt from completing the form.
The agency urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and pay attention to symptoms associated with Ebola Virus Disease.
It advised anyone who develops suspected symptoms to seek medical attention immediately and disclose relevant travel or possible exposure history to health officials.

The NCDC said the advisory followed a dynamic risk assessment and consultations with public health experts and the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
The agency added that its preparedness measures would continue to be reviewed as the epidemiological situation evolves.
