Former Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin, has pledged support for the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Oyo State, Sharafadeen Alli, in a move aimed at resolving divisions within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Folarin declared his support on Monday while addressing a crowd of party supporters who gathered to welcome him back to Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
At the gathering, he appealed to aggrieved party members, particularly supporters of aspirants who lost the governorship primary, to put their differences aside and work towards the APC’s success at the polls.
He also endorsed Alli and other APC candidates in the state for the forthcoming elections, urging members to prioritise the party’s collective interests over individual disagreements.
In a symbolic demonstration of reconciliation, Folarin raised Alli’s hand before the cheering supporters, signalling his readiness to work with the party’s governorship candidate.
The development follows tensions within the Oyo APC over the process that produced Alli as the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 governorship election.
Folarin and his supporters had reportedly questioned the credibility of the primary, alleging irregularities and calling for a fresh exercise that would be free from manipulation.
