The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has described the exit of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso from its platform as a setback, but not a major threat to its prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, stated this on Monday during an interview on Arise News’ Prime Time programme.
Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, and Kwankwaso, who contested under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), had previously aligned with the ADC as part of efforts to build a broad opposition coalition.
However, both politicians have since moved to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), where they are seeking to reposition politically ahead of the next election cycle.
Despite their departure, Abdullahi maintained that the ADC remains focused on its long-term strategy, insisting that the party’s structure and vision extend beyond individual personalities.
