Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday inaugurated the newly completed Oke-Fia flyover in Osogbo, with his cousin and Afrobeats star, Davido, calling on residents to ensure a peaceful conduct of the August 15 governorship election.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Davido urged voters across the state to participate actively in the electoral process by coming out to vote for candidates of their choice without fear or intimidation.
The singer also advised residents to remain at their polling units after casting their ballots to ensure that their votes are properly counted, while cautioning against violence during the exercise.
“I want everyone to come out en masse and vote for the candidate of your choice. Stay back and protect your vote, but do so peacefully. Don’t fight anybody. Let your vote speak for you,” Davido said.
The event attracted government officials, political stakeholders, community leaders and residents who gathered to witness the commissioning of the infrastructure project.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Adeleke described elections as a crucial component of democratic development and urged eligible voters to exercise their civic responsibilities peacefully.
He called on residents to participate actively in the electoral process and ensure that their votes count, while emphasising the importance of maintaining peace before, during and after the governorship election.
The Oke-Fia flyover is among the infrastructure projects completed by the Adeleke administration as part of efforts to improve transportation and urban development in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
