Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called for a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria’s security architecture, emphasizing the need for intelligence-led operations, advanced technology, and proactive measures to tackle terrorism and banditry.

Reacting to the security situation in the country, Atiku stressed that preventing attacks before they occur should be the primary focus of security agencies.

“More importantly, I call for a rejig of our security architecture that places emphasis on intelligence, technology and preemptive actions that nip in the bud terrorist and banditry attacks before they are carried out,” he said.

His remarks came as the military announced the successful rescue of several kidnapped victims during a major operation in Borno State.

According to military authorities, the mission ranks among the most significant hostage rescue operations conducted in the North-East in recent years.

The operation reportedly followed weeks of intelligence gathering, covert reconnaissance, and meticulous planning.

The military disclosed that men, women, and children held captive under difficult conditions were safely rescued.

Many of the victims were abducted from communities within the Ngoshe axis and surrounding areas.

Officials said the successful operation highlights the importance of intelligence-driven security efforts in combating insurgency, kidnapping, and other criminal activities in the region.
