The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed concerns over a viral threat notice allegedly pasted in a school, claiming that bandits were planning to attack schools and abduct students in the state.
In a statement shared on X on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police Abimbola Adebisi, said the Command was aware of the circulating report but emphasized that there is no credible intelligence to support claims of any impending attack.
The police urged parents, guardians, school authorities, and residents to remain calm, assuring them that Lagos remains safe and secure.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, has ordered an immediate assessment of the situation and directed increased security deployment around schools and other strategic locations across the state.
The Command further disclosed that police operatives, working alongside other security agencies, have been mobilized to protect schools, critical infrastructure, and communities.
“There is presently no verified intelligence indicating any imminent threat of such an attack within Lagos State.
While every security concern is treated seriously, members of the public are advised to remain calm and avoid panic,” the statement read.
The police reiterated their commitment to safeguarding lives and property, warning that anyone found spreading fear or engaging in criminal activities would face the full weight of the law.
“The Command will not tolerate any attempt by miscreants, bandits, kidnappers, or other criminal elements to threaten the peace and safety of residents.
Anyone found engaging in acts capable of causing fear or insecurity will be decisively dealt with in accordance with the law,” it added.
Residents were encouraged to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, noting that effective policing relies on strong community cooperation.
The Lagos State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety and security of all residents across the state.
