An Anambra State High Court sitting in Onitsha has granted the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, leave to serve court documents on Kenneth Okonkwo through substituted means after efforts to personally serve him proved unsuccessful.
The court ordered that the legal documents be pasted at Okonkwo’s last known residential address in Nsukka, Enugu State, or delivered to any adult found at the residence.
With the order for substituted service, the case is expected to proceed once the court documents have been duly served in line with the court’s directive.
The suit stems from allegations made by Okonkwo, who claimed that Obi and some NDC leaders in the South-East demanded additional payments from aspirants seeking the party’s tickets for National Assembly elections.
Neither Obi nor Okonkwo had publicly commented on the latest court order at the time of filing this report.
