The Federal Government plans to present its 2027 budget proposal to the National Assembly in September as part of efforts to restore a more orderly budget cycle amid years of delayed implementation and overlapping fiscal periods.

The plan was contained in the Federal Government of Nigeria 2027 Personnel Costs Budget Call Circular, dated September 4, 2026, and signed by the Director-General of the Budget Office of the Federation, Tanimu Yakubu.

The circular, obtained from the Budget Office’s website, provides guidelines for ministries, departments and agencies to prepare and submit their personnel cost proposals for the 2027 fiscal year.

According to the Budget Office, the draft 2027–2029 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper was concluded in July to pave the way for the early submission of the 2027 Appropriation Bill.

The document stated, “As you are aware, the 2027–2029 draft Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper was concluded by July 2026 in line with the Fiscal Responsibility Act 2007 to facilitate the submission of 2027 Budget to the National Assembly by September 2026.”

Although the circular did not specify the exact date for the budget presentation, the timeline suggests that the Federal Government intends to submit the proposal roughly three months before the commencement of the 2027 fiscal year.

The early submission is expected to give the National Assembly more time to scrutinise the proposals and pass the 2027 budget before the start of the new fiscal year.

After suffering injuries from the accident, it was learned that the deceased had turned to self-medication out of concern that she would not be able to pay for her medical bills. After turning to self-medication, it was gathered she passed away in her apartment few days later. The corpse was allegedly taken from the room and disposed off in a nearby canal by the landlady and her husband. Chairman of the Community Development Association, Mosuru Akindele, was reportedly called by the residents, who were suspicious about the alleged occurrence, and the youth leader, Olabode Kazeem, was also contacted following the incident. Confirming the incident, spokesperson of the State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, said the police were working to recover the body from the canal. “Our men went to the house and discovered a two-year-old boy in a welfare facility. Meanwhile, our men combed the entire canal in search of the body, but we haven’t found anything,” she said.
