Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has dissolved the governing board of the Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KEBSIEC) following the expiration of the members’ tenure.
The dissolution, which takes effect on September 18, 2026, was contained in a letter issued by the Director of Executive Council, Kabiru Hassan, and signed by the Secretary to the Kebbi State Government, Yakubu Bala.
However, two members of the commission whose tenure is still running will remain in office pending the reconstitution of the governing board.
Governor Idris commended the outgoing members for their service and contributions to the development of the state during their tenure.
He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to preserving the independence, credibility and integrity of KEBSIEC.

The governor assured that the government would continue to protect the commission’s independent status as it begins the process of reconstituting the governing board.
The dissolution formally takes effect on September 18, 2026.
