Vice President Kashim Shettima has stressed that effective leadership often requires difficult and sometimes unpopular decisions, noting that leaders must prioritize long-term national interests over personal approval.
Speaking on Monday at the Invest Lagos 3.0 summit, an investment forum aimed at connecting investors with opportunities across key sectors of the Lagos economy, Shettima said leadership is not about pleasing everyone but about making decisions that drive growth and development.
“If you want to be a nice man, you can go and sell ice cream, but leadership requires you to take very harsh decisions,” the Vice President said while addressing participants at the event.
The former governor argued that president Bola Tinubu has shown rare leadership qualities by taking harsh but very crucial decisions, that he said has realigneed the country on the path of progress and sustainability.
