Lagos APC 2027: This Is a Contest, Not a Battle and It Must Be Free & Fair – Ajose
I’m a bona fide Lagosian from Badagry. I’m not in this governorship race for myself. I’m here for a people neglected for 57 years. If Lagos APC leaders wanted a consensus candidate, they… pic.twitter.com/oJUdtuaeyw

A Lagos State governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, has criticised the reported move to adopt the state’s deputy governor, Obafemi Hamzat, as a consensus candidate.
Speaking during an interview, Ajose described the arrangement as undemocratic, stressing that while political parties reserve the right to adopt consensus candidates, such decisions must follow due process and broad consultations in line with party guidelines.
He accused the party leadership of misleading aspirants by proceeding with the sale of governorship nomination forms despite allegedly having prior plans to settle for a consensus candidate.
Ajose also raised concerns over what he described as the long-standing marginalisation of Lagosians in the Badagry axis.
He lamented that the area has been excluded from the state’s shared resources and political consideration for over five decades.
His comments follows earlier statement by former governoship candidate Gbadebo Rhodes Vivor, who also slammed the APC for assuming the role of the people in selecting the next governor of the state.
Vivor argued that it is only the voting public that has the legal right to elect or select their leader and not a committee of elites who think they are owners of the state.
Reactions continue to trail the endorsement of deputy governor Obafemi Hamzat by his principal, governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the state advsory council.
