The Lagos State Government has urged motorists to embrace responsible parking as it prepares to roll out a structured on-street parking programme aimed at creating a safer, more organised parking system across the state.

the General Manager of the Lagos State Parking Authority, LASPA,  Adebisi Adelabu, made the appeal while speaking on the activities of the agency, reaffirming the government’s commitment to improving parking management in Lagos.

She said motorists should begin to make parking arrangements part of their travel plans as the authority gets set to commence the structured on-street parking initiative.

Adelabu encouraged Lagos residents to adopt a new parking culture by planning their trips ahead and considering available parking spaces before setting out.

The LASPA boss said streets designated for the programme across Lagos will be properly marked to show where parking is allowed, where paid parking applies and where parking is prohibited.

She advised motorists to pay close attention to road signs and pavement markings, including red lines, single yellow lines and double yellow lines, noting that they are intended to improve traffic management and enhance public safety.

Adelabu explained that the concept of paid parking was already familiar to many Lagos motorists, adding that the new reform was designed to promote transparency and accountability in parking management.
