The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, has called on transport union members to shun reprisals and allow the police to conclude following the killing of the Organising Secretary of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Toba Ajiboye.
Tijani made the call during a meeting with leaders of the National Union of Road Transport Workers and the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria, where he pledged that those responsible for Ajiboye’s murder would be apprehended.
Ajiboye was shot dead by yet-to-be-identified gunmen on Sunday, raising concerns over possible reprisals among members of transport unions in the state.
the police commissioner said the command had commenced a thorough investigation into the incident and deployed officers to strategic locations across Lagos to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
