The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed five hospitality establishments in Ikorodu for persistent violations of environmental regulations despite repeated warnings and enforcement notices.
The agency disclosed the development in a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday, stating that the enforcement exercise was carried out in line with the Lagos State Government’s directive to strengthen compliance with environmental laws and protect public health.
According to LASEPA, the affected establishments had been issued several warnings, abatement notices and opportunities to correct the identified environmental infractions but failed to comply with the agency’s directives. The continued non-compliance prompted the enforcement action.
The sealed facilities are Docklands Hotels, Royal Tree Hotel and Suite, Rivera Hotel, Medallion Hotel and Daval Spring Hotel. The establishments are located across different parts of Ikorodu, including Ijede Road, Gberigbe Road, Aga and Owode-Ibeshe.
Commenting on the operation, LASEPA’s General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to safeguarding public health through strict enforcement of environmental regulations. He stressed that compliance with environmental laws is a shared responsibility involving businesses, residents and other stakeholders.
Ajayi warned that the agency would intensify monitoring and enforcement against individuals and organisations whose activities pose a threat to environmental sustainability. He urged operators of hospitality facilities and members of the public to adopt responsible environmental practices and ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements.
The agency reiterated that it would continue taking enforcement action against facilities that disregard Lagos State environmental laws, emphasizing that protecting the environment remains a key priority of the state government.
