Resident doctors at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, have protested over what they described as poor working conditions, understaffing and unpaid wage arrears.

The doctors, under the aegis of the Association of Resident Doctors, LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, staged the protest on Wednesday, calling for urgent intervention from the Oyo State Government and the hospital management.

In a statement signed by the ARD President, Dr Mustapha Adedapo, and the Public Relations Officer, Dr Abdulrahman Fofie, the doctors said they had been working under what they described as “crippling conditions” that had adversely affected their professional welfare and dignity.

They expressed concern over staff shortages and outstanding wage payments, saying the situation had placed additional pressure on resident doctors and affected their working environment.

The doctors appealed to the Oyo State Governor, the state government, hospital management and other relevant stakeholders to urgently address their concerns and improve working conditions at the teaching hospital.

They urged the authorities to take concrete steps to resolve the issues and ensure a more conducive environment for healthcare workers and patients.
