The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has intensified its criticism of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, urging him to begin preparing to vacate the Government House ahead of the August 15, 2026, governorship election. The Islamic advocacy group claimed that the governor had lost the confidence of many residents of the state and predicted his defeat at the polls.

The position of the organisation was contained in a statement issued on Monday by its Executive Director, Professor Isiaq Akintola. According to MURIC, Governor Adeleke’s administration has fallen short of public expectations, alleging that the people of Osun State have become dissatisfied with his style of governance and are ready to elect a new leader in the forthcoming governorship election.

Among the issues raised by the group was the reported damage to the recently commissioned flyover in Osogbo, which MURIC claimed developed faults barely three weeks after it was inaugurated. The organisation alleged that the incident reflected poorly on the quality of infrastructure delivered by the current administration and questioned the government’s commitment to durable public projects.

MURIC also accused the governor of concentrating governance around his hometown of Ede, alleging that his administration had become overly centred on the community at the expense of other parts of the state. The group further criticised what it described as the governor’s handling of local government affairs, while also referring to allegations of examination malpractice as part of its broader concerns over the administration.

The organisation maintained that these issues had contributed to growing public dissatisfaction and insisted that Governor Adeleke should begin preparing to leave office. It expressed confidence that voters would reject his administration during the governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.

In the statement, Professor Akintola said, “As preparations for the gubernatorial election in Osun on August 15, 2026, enter top gear, we remind Governor Ademola Adeleke to start packing his dancing kits out of Oke-Fia Government House before it is too late.”

He added that, “For the flyover damaged after three weeks, for the alleged ‘edenisation’ of governance, for alleged mishandling of local government affairs, alleged examination malpractice, among others, we can’t look away. Governor Adeleke has crossed the Rubicon. He will be roundly defeated in the coming gubernatorial election in Osun on August 15, 2026. That will be his punishment for playing on the intelligence of Osun Muslims.”

The Osun State Government had not responded to MURIC’s latest allegations as of the time of filing this report. The forthcoming governorship election is expected to witness intense political campaigns as parties and stakeholders continue to present their positions to voters across the state.
