The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has uncovered over 100 sacks of empty alcoholic beverage bottles suspected to be intended for the production of counterfeit drinks in Lagos.
The bottles were discovered in a residential building at Meiran Road, Agbado Oke-Odo, during an operation by the agency’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate.
Speaking in a video released by NAFDAC, an Assistant Director in the directorate, Kunle Ojo, said the operation followed credible intelligence about activities at the location.
Ojo said the bottles, which belonged to different alcoholic beverage brands, were suspected to have been stockpiled for distribution to counterfeit drink producers.
He said the bottles had been destroyed to prevent them from being reused in the production of fake alcoholic beverages.
