The Oyo State Government has demolished a building allegedly used as a hideout by kidnappers who abducted the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons in Ibadan.

The demolition, which commenced on Monday, targeted the structure located in the Lakoun community along the Ayegun-Olojuoro Road axis of Ibadan, where security operatives reportedly discovered the victims had been held captive before regaining their freedom over the weekend.

The action is being viewed as part of the state’s broader efforts to dismantle criminal infrastructure and send a strong message to kidnapping syndicates operating within its territory.

Recall that Mrs. Olaide Adegoke John-Paul, Adelabu younger sister and her 12-year-old twin sons were abducted by armed men last week while travelling within Ibadan. Their rescue by security operatives sparked relief among residents and renewed calls for tougher measures against criminal groups.

News of the demolition emerged through videos and photographs shared on social media by local news platforms, showing heavy equipment pulling down the structure identified as the kidnappers’ operational base.

One of the platforms, Oyo Affairs, reported that the building served as the location where the victims were held during their days in captivity before being rescued by security personnel.

Another digital media platform, Oyo Matters, also shared footage of the operation, describing it as a decisive move by the state government against criminal elements.

The demolition reportedly followed a security assessment of the property led by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Oluwagbemiga Abimbola, on Sunday.
