The Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Gbenga Oyekola, has distanced himself from reports of a planned move to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde.
Oyekola, who represents Atiba State Constituency and is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the clarification in a post on his verified Facebook page on Tuesday.
He denied any involvement in discussions or arrangements linked to an alleged impeachment plot, insisting that he was neither invited nor consulted.
“I hereby completely disassociate myself from any arrangement or activity that has the potential to disrupt the peace of Oyo State. I was never invited, never consulted, and was not part of any such meetings or arrangements,” he said.
The lawmaker also raised concerns about what he described as attempts by certain individuals to create division within the Assembly and strain relations between the legislature and the state government.
