Travelers at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2) in Lagos have expressed anger over a sharp increase in parking fees introduced at the facility, with many describing the new rates as excessive.
The revised tariff, implemented by Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, the operators of the terminal, reportedly took effect from April 1, 2026.
Under the new pricing structure, hourly parking fees for sedans and SUVs have reportedly increased significantly, ranging between ₦3,500 and ₦4,000.
Overnight parking, which previously cost around ₦6,000, has also risen sharply to as high as ₦50,000.
The development has sparked complaints from frequent travelers and airport users, many of whom took to social media to describe the new charges as punitive and excessive.
Some users alleged that the revised fees amount to extortion, especially for passengers who leave their vehicles for extended periods while travelling.
However, management of the terminal is said to have defended the adjustment, insisting that the revised rates were introduced to improve orderliness and reduce congestion within the parking area.
Despite this explanation, dissatisfaction continues among some airport users, with calls for a review of the pricing structure to reflect what critics describe as fairer and more passenger-friendly rates.
The situation highlights growing tension between service providers and consumers over pricing at key transport infrastructure in Lagos.
