The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging insecurity at certain examination centres in a North Central State ahead of the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination scheduled to begin on April 16, 2026.
In a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the police described the claims as unfounded, while urging members of the public to disregard unverified information capable of causing panic.
The Force noted that although it does not act on rumours, it had taken into account public concerns regarding the safety of candidates and examination personnel.
According to the statement, the police have deployed additional security personnel nationwide to ensure a safe and conducive environment for the conduct of the examinations.
The deployment includes overt and covert operatives, routine patrols, perimeter security checks, and rapid response teams positioned at strategic locations.
The NPF also confirmed close collaboration with sister security agencies to monitor potential threats and respond swiftly to any attempt to disrupt the examination process.
It warned that individuals or groups seeking to cause disruption would be identified and dealt with in accordance with the law.
The police further assured candidates, parents, and examination officials of adequate security coverage, urging them to remain calm, arrive early at their centres, and comply with all examination rules and security instructions.
Members of the public were advised to rely only on official communications from JAMB and the Nigeria Police Force for accurate information regarding the examination.
The statement reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to maintaining peace, public safety, and confidence in national examinations and other key public activities.
