Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has described the opening of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the Nigerian Exchange Group as a significant milestone for Lagos, Nigeria’s capital market and the wider economy.
Sanwo-Olu made the remarks after joining Alhaji Aliko Dangote at the Nigerian Exchange Group in Lagos for the opening of the refinery’s IPO.
The governor said the development reinforces Lagos’ growing reputation as a destination where businesses can thrive, investors can find opportunities and major investments can take root.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment and strengthening Lagos’ position as Nigeria’s leading investment destination.
According to Sanwo-Olu, the listing of the Dangote Refinery is particularly significant as it marks the first refinery to be offered on the Nigerian Exchange in its 66-year history.
He said the development represents another important step in the growth of Nigeria’s capital market and economy, while expressing optimism that it would encourage more investments and business opportunities across Lagos.
“Our promise is to continue to create the environment for more investments, more businesses and more opportunities to thrive in Lagos,” the governor said.
