Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has hosted the 2025/2026 Cohort of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy for their final mentorship session, urging the Fellows to embrace continuous learning, patience and solution-driven leadership.
The mentorship session, held at Lagos House, Marina, provided the Fellows with an opportunity to engage directly with the Governor and gain insights into the realities of public leadership, governance, decision-making and service.
Sanwo-Olu said effective leadership should be measured by the solutions it provides and the positive impact it creates. He encouraged the Fellows to remain committed to learning and understand that leadership requires patience, experience and a willingness to address challenges.
The Governor also urged the Fellows to sustain the relationships and networks built during their time at the Academy, noting that the knowledge and experience gained through the Fellowship should serve as a foundation for continued collaboration and service.
He encouraged them to contribute to building a strong Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy Alumni community that would promote lasting partnerships and support emerging leaders beyond the Fellowship programme.
In her welcome address, the Executive Secretary of the Academy, Mrs. Ayisat Agbaje-Okunade, thanked the Governor for his continued support for youth development and leadership initiatives in Lagos State.
She said the mentorship session gave the Fellows a valuable opportunity to learn from Sanwo-Olu’s experience and gain a deeper understanding of the responsibilities and demands of public leadership.
The engagement also featured presentations by the Fellows, who presented policy recommendations on key issues affecting Lagos State and proposed practical solutions through which young and emerging leaders could contribute to the state’s development.
The session was attended by members of the Lagos State Executive Council and other senior government officials.
Delivering the vote of thanks, the President of the 2025/2026 Cohort, Abdulazeez Olumide Abdulazeez, expressed appreciation to the Governor and other officials for giving the Fellows an opportunity to interact directly with leaders involved in governance and public service in Lagos State.
