The Super Eagles of Nigeria successfully defended their Unity Cup crown with an impressive 3-0 victory over the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica in the tournament final.
The Nigerian side produced a disciplined and clinical performance to retain the trophy, extending their unbeaten run in the competition and handing head coach Eric Chelle another piece of silverware.
Nigeria made the perfect start, taking the lead just two minutes into the encounter through Alhassan Yusuf. The midfielder reacted quickest inside the penalty area following a long throw-in to give the Super Eagles an early advantage.
The goal settled Nigeria, who went on to dominate large portions of the match with organised defending and purposeful attacking play. Jamaica found it difficult to create meaningful chances as the Nigerian midfield controlled the tempo of the game.
The Super Eagles maintained their intensity after the break and doubled their advantage midway through the second half.
One of Nigeria’s standout performers during the tournament, Femi Azeez, delivered an inviting cross into the penalty area for Terem Moffi, who rose highest to power a header beyond the goalkeeper and make it 2-0.
As Jamaica pushed forward in search of a response, Nigeria remained compact at the back while continuing to threaten on the counterattack.
The victory was sealed in stoppage time when Yusuf completed his brace, finishing off another swift Nigerian move to crown a memorable individual display and complete a comprehensive 3-0 triumph.
Although Jamaica impressed on their journey to the final, they were ultimately outplayed by a Nigerian team that combined tactical discipline with attacking efficiency.
The victory ensures that Nigeria remain champions of the Unity Cup and further strengthens the Super Eagles’ reputation as one of the dominant teams in the invitational competition.
