President Bola Tinubu has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for what he described as ending the era of abandoned road projects in Abuja.
The President gave the commendation on Wednesday during the commissioning of the full-scope development of Akinwumi Ajibola Street in the Gaduwa District of the Federal Capital Territory.
Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu inaugurated the road project, which comprises Important Local Streets (ILS) 16, 18 and 19, praising Wike for improving infrastructure delivery in the nation’s capital by ensuring projects are completed rather than abandoned.
According to the President, the FCT minister took decisive steps after reviewing files on the previously neglected project, directing contractors back to the site, setting clear completion timelines and ensuring adequate funding for the work.
Tinubu also called on residents of the Federal Capital Territory to protect public infrastructure by refraining from dumping refuse in drainage channels and vandalising streetlights, road signs and other public facilities.
