The Presidency has expressed sympathy to families affected by the recent attack on schools in Oyo State, describing the incident as disturbing and a direct threat to the safety and future of Nigerian children.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, condolences were extended to the families of victims, the Oyo State Government and Nigerians over the attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area.
Dare described the incident as barbaric and unacceptable, stating that it represented an assault on peace and the education sector.
He disclosed that President Bola Tinubu had been fully briefed on the situation and was closely monitoring developments.
According to the statement, the President has directed relevant security and intelligence agencies to strengthen ongoing rescue operations aimed at securing the release of all abducted victims.
“President Tinubu is on top of the situation. All hands are on deck to secure the release of the victims and bring the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice,” the statement said.
The Presidency also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to addressing insecurity and protecting schools from attacks by criminal groups.
Dare urged Nigerians to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could assist ongoing investigations and rescue efforts.
The Presidency added that it remained in solidarity with the affected families and the Oyo State Government while expressing hope for the safe return of all those still in captivity.
The attack targeted Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Community Grammar School and L.A. Primary School, leading to the abduction of students, teachers and a school principal.
