The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the display of the preliminary voter register and distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The seven-day exercise, which began today October 9, will end on October 15, allowing registered voters to verify their details, submit claims and objections, and collect PVCs from the first phase of the Continuous Voter Registration conducted between August and December 2025.
In Plateau State, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Sam Egwu, said the exercise would take place across all 207 registration areas from 9 am to 3 pm daily.
Similarly, the Sokoto State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Umar Garba, said the exercise would run from today October 9 to 15, with eligible voters expected to collect their PVCs at designated centres.
However, INEC said PVCs for applicants who requested replacements for lost or damaged cards, transferred their registration or updated their details, as well as those registered during the second and third phases of the exercise, were not yet available.
The commission added that PVC distribution would continue at its offices in the 23 local government areas of Sokoto State after the October 15 deadline.

INEC also said it would work with security agencies to ensure that internally displaced persons in recognised camps could participate in the 2027 elections.
The commission urged registered voters to check their details during the display period and take advantage of the exercise to resolve any errors or discrepancies before the final voter register is compiled.
