The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to extend the ongoing voter register display and Permanent Voter Card collection exercise by one week.
The association’s National President, Hon. Khalil Mohd Khalil, made the appeal in a statement on Wednesday, proposing that the exercise, scheduled to end on October 15, should continue until October 22, 2026.
KACRAN said millions of eligible voters, particularly those in remote rural communities and internally displaced persons across Northern Nigeria, were unaware that their PVCs were ready for collection.
It warned that failure to extend the deadline could prevent many registered voters from participating in future elections.
The association also appealed to the 19 northern state governors to declare October 19 and 20 work-free days for voter sensitisation if INEC approves the extension.
KACRAN urged media organisations to intensify public awareness campaigns and encouraged registered voters who had yet to collect their cards to visit their respective ward headquarters before the deadline.
