The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Oyo State, will begin the distribution and collection of 77,015 newly printed Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, across the state’s 351 Registration Areas and Wards.
The exercise, which will run for seven days from Friday, October 9 to Thursday, October 15, 2026, is part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Prof. Adeniran Rahmon Tella, disclosed this in a media release, saying the exercise would take place daily between 9am and 3pm, including weekends.
Tella said the exercise would also provide an opportunity for registered voters to collect unclaimed PVCs that were printed ahead of the 2023 general elections.
He urged members of the public to disregard online reports suggesting that the Continuous Voter Registration exercise is still ongoing, clarifying that the CVR exercise closed on July 26, 2026.
The REC encouraged eligible voters and other stakeholders to take advantage of the seven-day distribution exercise at their respective Registration Areas.
He explained that after the initial seven-day exercise, the distribution and collection of PVCs would continue at INEC offices across the 33 Local Government Areas of the state.
According to him, the same operating hours of 9am to 3pm would apply during the subsequent collection exercise.
Tella said the newly printed PVCs were primarily meant for voters who registered during the last CVR exercise, those who had lost their cards, requested transfers from one polling unit to another, or whose PVCs had been damaged or defaced.
He, however, assured residents that additional batches of newly printed PVCs would be received by the commission and made available for collection.
The REC urged eligible voters to participate in the exercise as the commission continues preparations for the 2027 general elections.
