Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi to withdraw what he described as false and defamatory allegations made against him during a widely circulated press conference or face both civil and criminal legal action.

Gbajabiamila, through his solicitors, Pinheiro LP, is also demanding a public apology, the removal of the alleged defamatory publications from all media platforms, and a written undertaking that no similar allegations will be made against him in the future.

In a letter signed by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Kemi Pinheiro, the law firm said the Chief of Staff’s attention was drawn to a press conference addressed by Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi on June 25, 2026, which was subsequently circulated across print, electronic and social media platforms.

According to the solicitors, the publication contained “numerous statements which are not only false, malicious, reckless and entirely without factual foundation,” and were intended to portray Gbajabiamila as corrupt, dishonest, criminally culpable, morally bankrupt, administratively incompetent, and unfit to hold public office.

The letter listed several allegations made against the Chief of Staff, including claims that he demanded 48 per cent of the alleged take-off grant of an organisation identified as the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, received ₦400 million through proxies in connection with appointments into the organisation, abused his office, manipulated security agencies, participated in fraudulent budget processes, engaged in corruption and other criminal conduct, and was involved in murder and a subsequent cover-up.

Pinheiro LP dismissed the allegations as entirely false, defamatory, and unsupported by any credible evidence.

The law firm further stated that Gbajabiamila had never met, communicated with, or maintained any personal or official relationship with Adeyemi, arguing that the absence of any prior interaction demonstrated the reckless and malicious nature of the allegations.

According to the solicitors, the publication went beyond fair comment or political criticism and instead contained serious accusations of criminality, corruption, bribery, extortion, obstruction of justice, and official misconduct without lawful justification.

The letter also claimed that the allegations had severely damaged Gbajabiamila’s reputation, exposed him to public ridicule, and undermined public confidence in his office both within and outside Nigeria.

The solicitors criticised Adeyemi for making the allegations through the media rather than presenting them before the appropriate investigative or judicial authorities.

Pinheiro LP further disclosed that Adeyemi is currently facing criminal prosecution before the Federal High Court in Abuja in Charge over allegations bordering on forgery, including the alleged forgery of an appointment letter and presidential letter-headed papers purportedly showing that he had been appointed by President Bola Tinubu.

The law firm stated that if the demands are not met within 72 hours, Gbajabiamila will commence legal proceedings seeking damages for defamation, a perpetual injunction restraining any further defamatory publications, and a mandatory court order compelling a public retraction and apology.

“The Chief of Staff, (Femi Gbajabiamila) was actually the whistleblower. He was the first person to actually write a petition to the DSS and the IGP of police to investigate someone who is impersonating him. Somebody who is going about with a forged document from his office…”… pic.twitter.com/2OD0jPnv5k
