The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has commenced enforcement of the 2026 parking permit regulations across its operational zones in the state.
The enforcement exercise is aimed at ensuring compliance with approved parking regulations, promoting accountability and improving the management of parking activities across Lagos.
The General Manager of LASPA, Adebisi Adelabu, said the commencement of enforcement marks the end of the extended grace period given to customers to regularise their operations and obtain their 2026 parking permits.
According to her, the extension was intended to give affected customers sufficient time to meet their obligations and comply with the Authority’s requirements.
Adelabu said the enforcement was necessary to ensure compliance with laws governing the transport sector and streamline parking management across Lagos.
She expressed concern that a significant number of customers had yet to obtain their 2026 parking permits despite repeated appeals, direct communication, reminders and the extended grace period.
The LASPA boss explained that the Authority had earlier issued 2026 Demand Notices to all registered customers, detailing the applicable fees, requirements and procedures for obtaining the permits.
She urged customers who are yet to regularise their operations to do so immediately to avoid sanctions for continued non-compliance.
Adelabu stressed that the enforcement exercise was not designed to be punitive but was necessary to restore order, accountability and efficiency within Lagos’ parking system.
She noted that valid parking permits and accurate customer records are essential for LASPA to effectively plan, monitor, regulate and manage parking infrastructure and services across the state.
The General Manager warned that customers who default on their 2026 Demand Notices could face substantial fines and immediate suspension of operations, in line with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.
She therefore advised defaulters to regularise their operations and obtain the required parking permits without further delay.
Adelabu also assured customers that LASPA personnel were available to provide assistance and guidance, including support with the Authority’s online payment and registration platforms.
While reaffirming LASPA’s commitment to developing an efficient and sustainable parking system for residents, businesses and visitors, she appealed to members of the public to cooperate with enforcement officers.
She also urged residents to report unauthorised parking activities to the Authority as part of efforts to improve parking management across Lagos State.
