The Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) and the Igbogbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have begun discussions on a partnership aimed at expanding residents’ access to finance, employability training and business support programmes.
The engagement followed an invitation by the Chairman of Igbogbo LCDA, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, who received a delegation from the LSETF at his office on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
The LSETF delegation, led by the Head of ME/MES, Ibrahim Onimisi, presented an overview of the Fund’s mandate, programmes and interventions, with emphasis on eligibility requirements, benefits and application procedures for its various opportunities.
Onimisi identified access to finance, employability training and business support as key areas for immediate collaboration, stressing the need to bring LSETF interventions closer to residents at the grassroots.
Aroyewun commended the LSETF for its contributions to employment generation, enterprise development and economic empowerment across Lagos State. He reaffirmed the LCDA’s commitment to partnering with the Fund to ensure that more residents benefit from its programmes.
The chairman expressed particular interest in the Access to Finance and Employability Training programmes, describing them as important tools for empowering young people, aspiring entrepreneurs and existing business owners in the community.
To demonstrate the council’s commitment to the proposed partnership, Aroyewun immediately constituted a committee to begin preparations for an on-the-spot loan application drive in Igbogbo. He also pledged to provide a temporary facility for the exercise to enable residents to conveniently obtain information and apply for relevant LSETF opportunities.
The chairman further welcomed plans for a cheque presentation ceremony for successful loan beneficiaries, expected to hold in the first week of September, subject to the completion of necessary processes.
He directed the committee to maintain close engagement with the LSETF team to ensure the smooth implementation of the proposed interventions, reaffirming the LCDA’s readiness to provide the necessary support.
The proposed collaboration reflects the shared commitment of LSETF and Igbogbo LCDA to strengthening grassroots economic empowerment and creating more opportunities for residents, particularly young people and entrepreneurs, to access funding, acquire relevant skills and build sustainable businesses.
