Former Labour Party National Chairman, Julius Abure, has criticised the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over his handling of the internal crisis that rocked the party after the general election.
Abure said Obi failed to effectively manage the post-election disputes within the Labour Party, adding that the former Anambra governor may eventually regret the outcome.
“Even if Peter Obi doesn’t come out to say he regrets what happened in the Labour Party, I’m sure he will regret it,” Abure said.
He further accused Obi of not taking decisive steps to address divisions and disagreements within the party at a critical period after the 2023 presidential election.
The Labour Party has continued to face internal leadership struggles and factional disputes since the conclusion of the elections, with disagreements among party stakeholders over control and direction of the party.
Meanwhile, Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, recently joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), amid concerns over worsening internal party crises, external interference, and growing tensions within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
“Even if Peter Obi doesn’t come out to say he regrets what happened in the Labour Party, I’m sure he will regret it… He didn’t manage the crisis in the party.”
