There was excitement on Tuesday as the Accord Party officially declared Oriyomi Hamzat as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election following its primary election held earlier in the day.
The result was announced by Abdulrahman Danladi Mohammed, the National Deputy Secretary of the party, who confirmed that Hamzat emerged as the flag bearer after other aspirants were screened out in line with party guidelines.
According to the party, the screening process led to the disqualification of two other contestants, paving the way for Hamzat’s emergence as the consensus candidate.
In his acceptance remarks, Hamzat expressed appreciation to party members, supporters and well-wishers, while also outlining his vision and intentions for the people of Oyo State ahead of the 2027 governorship race.
Following the announcement, Mohammed presented Hamzat with his certificate of clearance amid cheers and celebrations from party faithful.
Supporters were seen singing and chanting in celebration of the outcome, while took turns wirh songs to mock the sitting governor, Seyi Makinde.
The primary exercise reportedly drew a lively atmosphere, with members expressing optimism about the party’s chances in the forthcoming election cycle.
