Gunshots disrupted the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C., forcing the evacuation of U.S. President Donald Trump and other top officials as security agents swiftly responded to the threat.
The incident occurred late Saturday at the Washington Hilton, where a suspected lone gunman attempted to breach a security checkpoint. According to officials, the assailant was armed with multiple weapons and was quickly subdued by the U.S. Secret Service.
Authorities confirmed that one Secret Service officer was struck during the encounter but survived due to a bulletproof vest. No guests at the high-profile event were reported injured.
