The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has terminated the appointment of one of its staff members for allegedly extorting unsuspecting candidates.
The development was disclosed in the Board’s release bulletin on Monday as JAMB reiterated its commitment to sanitising Nigeria’s admission and examination processes.
The Board said the disciplinary action demonstrated that its efforts to tackle fraud extended beyond external offenders, stressing that internal misconduct would also attract sanctions.
JAMB warned its staff against engaging in conduct capable of undermining the integrity of the Board or exploiting candidates and members of the public, noting that offenders would face severe consequences in line with established rules.
According to the Board, the termination sends a clear message that its zero-tolerance policy on corruption and misconduct applies to all staff members, regardless of their positions.
JAMB added that it would not shield employees who abuse their positions or violate the trust placed in them by candidates and members of the public.
The Board reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a clean, accountable and professional workforce, stressing that efforts to protect the integrity of its admission and examination processes must also address misconduct from within the organisation.
