A passenger aboard a Kenya Airways flight from Nairobi, Kenya, to Lagos has died after becoming unresponsive shortly before the aircraft landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night as the passenger, whose identity has not been disclosed, was travelling on the Lagos-bound flight.
Kenya Airways, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said the passenger became unresponsive at about 9:20pm, approximately 20 minutes before the aircraft was scheduled to land in Lagos.
The airline said its crew immediately responded to the medical emergency by administering first aid and following established emergency procedures.
According to the airline, the aircraft landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at 9:41pm, where medical personnel were waiting to attend to the passenger.
However, after examining the passenger, the medical personnel confirmed that the individual had died.

The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Michael Achimugu, confirmed the incident, saying he was briefed by Kenya Airways’ country manager on Wednesday morning.
Achimugu added that the police had taken over the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the passenger’s death.
The identity of the deceased and the cause of death have yet to be disclosed.
