The Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board (LSFVCB) has expressed sadness over the tragic security incident that occurred at a cinema facility in Lekki, Lagos State.
In a statement signed by its Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Adebukola A. Agbaminoja, the Board extended its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the security officer who lost his life in the incident.
The Board also wished the injured victim a speedy and full recovery.
The LSFVCB said the incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for cinema operators and other entertainment facilities to maintain effective safety and security measures across Lagos State.
While relevant security agencies continue their investigation into the incident, the Board urged members of the public to remain calm and avoid speculation or the circulation of unverified information.
It stressed that the safety and wellbeing of cinema patrons, employees and other stakeholders in the entertainment industry remain a priority.
The Board also called on cinema operators and other stakeholders to continually review and strengthen their security and emergency-response measures in collaboration with relevant security agencies.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the unfortunate incident,” the Board said.
