The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 147 suspected criminals and recovered a cache of weapons during coordinated raids on criminal hideouts across parts of the state under its ongoing Operation KO S’AYE III.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the operation was carried out at about 5:30 a.m. on Sunday by a joint team of police operatives acting on credible intelligence. The officers raided suspected criminal hideouts at Boolar, Super Ile-Epo and other identified black spots in a bid to dismantle criminal networks and improve public safety.
The operation led to the recovery of 250 expanded cartridges, 22 machetes, five battle axes, two knives, a pair of scissors, a lighter, assorted charms and substances suspected to be Indian hemp. The police said all 147 suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities, adding that those found culpable will be prosecuted.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, praised the officers for their professionalism and dedication during the operation. He assured residents that Operation KO S’AYE III would continue across the state to deny criminals safe havens and enhance security. The commissioner also urged members of the public to support the police with timely and credible information that would aid the arrest of criminal elements and improve safety across Lagos.
