The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed viral reports claiming that armed Fulani men were recently arrested in Ikorodu, describing the information as false, misleading, and based on an incident that occurred several years ago.
Speaking during an interview on Adamimogo FM Lagos, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, urged members of the public to verify information before sharing it, warning against the spread of fake news and misinformation.
The police spokesperson also debunked reports of an alleged student abduction in Ibeju-Lekki and claims of suspicious activities in Imota, stating that investigations found no evidence to support the allegations.
According to the Command, security personnel responded after receiving reports about a large gathering of Hausa residents in Ibeju-Lekki. However, officers discovered that the individuals had assembled for the recently concluded Ileya celebrations and were later escorted out of the area after the festivities.
The police reassured residents that security measures across Lagos State have been strengthened to prevent criminal activities and ensure public safety.
The Command disclosed that additional officers have been deployed for patrol operations across communities, while aerial surveillance, including the use of helicopters, is being conducted to monitor difficult-to-access locations and enhance security coverage across the state.
