Mayowa Lambe, former wife of Roby Ekpo, has filed a defamation suit against her ex-husband, demanding an immediate retraction of statements he allegedly made about their marriage.
In a cease-and-desist notice dated April 22, Lambe, through the legal department of Aunt Landa’s Bethel Foundation, accused Ekpo of spreading false and damaging narratives about her across multiple public platforms, including podcast appearances.
The notice described Ekpo’s actions as a “deliberate and sustained campaign of falsehood,” alleging that he presented unverified claims about her personal life as facts, triggering reputational damage, online harassment, and public ridicule.
Lambe is demanding that all allegedly defamatory content be taken down immediately, alongside a public apology and retraction. She is also seeking ₦100 million in damages. The legal notice warned that failure to comply within 48 hours could result in formal court action, adding that third parties who continue to circulate the claims may also face legal consequences.
The dispute follows a recent interview in which Ekpo made several personal allegations, including claims relating to intimacy, fertility challenges, and financial support during Lambe’s time abroad. He also stated that he was unaware of the end of their marriage until he saw reports of her remarriage online.
However, Lambe’s legal team has strongly contested these claims, insisting that the marriage had been mutually dissolved prior to her remarriage.
The former couple reportedly met on Instagram in 2015 and married shortly after, keeping their relationship largely private until the recent public fallout.
