The Nigerian education loan fund (NELFUND) has debunked a social media document claiming that upkeep allowances under the Federal Government’s Student Loan Scheme for the 2025/2026 academic session have been suspended.
NELFUND said the document, dated July 10 and attributed to its Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, is fake and did not originate from the Fund.
It urged beneficiaries and the public to disregard the misinformation and rely only on its official communication channels.
The Fund further clarified that neither the Federal Government nor NELFUND has announced any suspension of upkeep allowance payments, stressing that student loan and upkeep disbursements are continuing as scheduled for eligible students in public tertiary institutions nationwide.
