Ondo Police have launched a coordinated rescue operation, a manhunt for gunmen who abducted a community leader, Adeniyi Adelana, in Ode Oriya Village, Owo Local Government Area of the state.
The armed assailants, numbering about six, reportedly stormed the community and forcefully whisked the traditional ruler away through a nearby bush path on Friday.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Abayomi Jimoh,
disclosed that operatives of the Ondo State Police Command, led by the Divisional Police Officer of B Division, Owo, were swiftly mobilised to the scene following a distress call.
While there is growing tension in the community, police have urged the public to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear.
the Ondo Police Command also urged Residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that may aid ongoing operations.
