Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, on his 62nd birthday, describing him as a trusted partner and dedicated public servant.
Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, commended Hamzat for his years of service to Lagos State and Nigeria. He also highlighted the deputy governor’s contributions to governance and the development of the state.
The governor said he had worked closely with Hamzat for more than seven years, describing him as a dependable partner with whom he had collaborated to deliver governance and public services to Lagos residents. He also praised Hamzat’s commitment to public service, family and the development of Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu further expressed support for Hamzat’s bid to succeed him as governor of Lagos State in 2027, urging residents to support the APC governorship candidate. Hamzat was adopted as the Lagos APC’s consensus candidate in April and subsequently emerged as the party’s candidate following its governorship primary in May 2026.
The governor wished Hamzat continued good health, wisdom and success, while praying for many more years of service to Lagos State and Nigeria.
