President Bola Tinubu has commended Nigeria’s security personnel for their courage and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other security threats across the country.

In a message addressed to members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies on his X handle on Monday, the president praised troops serving on the front lines, describing them as a shield protecting innocent citizens and preserving the nation’s peace and stability.

“You stand as a shield between innocent citizens and those who seek to destroy the peace, safety, and dignity of our communities,” Tinubu said.

The president acknowledged the difficult conditions under which security personnel operate, noting that they serve in forests, on roads, at forward operating bases, in the air, in the creeks, and across challenging terrains to safeguard the country.

Tinubu extended his appreciation beyond the military to officers and personnel of the Police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, intelligence services, local security formations, and others working to keep the nation secure.

He also paid tribute to the families of security personnel, recognising the emotional burden of long deployments and the uncertainties associated with service.

The president honoured members of the security forces who lost their lives in the line of duty, describing their sacrifice as an enduring contribution to the nation’s survival and stability.

“We honour those who have paid the supreme price in defence of our country. Their names may not always trend, but their courage lives on in rescued communities, protected families, and the survival of the nation they served,” he added.

Tinubu urged Nigerians to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could assist efforts to combat criminality and terrorism.

“The fight against terror is not only a military operation. It is a national duty. Citizens must support our security forces by providing timely, useful information. When you see something, say something. When you know something, report it,” he said.

Reaffirming the country’s determination to overcome insecurity, the President declared that Nigeria would not succumb to violence or fear.

He concluded by thanking troops and security personnel for their vigilance and service, while praying for their safety as they continue to defend the nation.

I commend all our patriotic soldiers on the front-line in the fight against terrorism in all forms.
