The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has suspended governorship aspirant, Alhaji Ladi Hassan, over allegations of anti-party activities and gross misconduct.
The suspension was contained in a letter issued by the Magaji Ngeri Ward Executive Committee in Ilorin West Local Government Area, dated June 2, 2026.
According to the party, Hassan had earlier been notified of allegations against him in a letter dated May 30, 2026, and was directed to appear before a seven-man committee constituted by the ward within 48 hours.
However, the ward executive committee stated that Hassan failed to honour the invitation, describing his absence as an admission of the allegations levelled against him.
The committee said the disciplinary action was taken in accordance with Sections 57 and 59(1) of the PDP Constitution, which provide sanctions for members found guilty of misconduct.
“Your failure to comply constitutes an admission of guilt of anti-party activities, acts of indiscipline, and gross misconduct, all of which contravene the principles and code of conduct of the Party,” the suspension letter stated.
Consequently, the party suspended Hassan from all party activities and functions for one month, effective immediately.
The ward executive committee also directed the governorship aspirant to stay away from meetings, programmes and activities of the party at the ward, local government, state and national levels during the suspension period.
