The Office of Local Government Establishments and Training (OLGE&T) has organised a two-day capacity-building workshop for Directors of Agriculture, Community and Social Development in the Unified Local Government Service.
The specialised training, held from Monday, September 14 to Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the OLGE&T Training School, was themed “Strengthening Agricultural Extension & Community Service Delivery for Rural Development.”
The Permanent Secretary of OLGE&T, Toyin Ogunlana, said the workshop was part of the office’s ongoing capacity-building programmes designed to strengthen the professional knowledge, competencies and leadership skills of officers across various cadres of the Unified Local Government Service.
Ogunlana said the training was aimed at improving the participants’ ability to respond to emerging challenges and deliver more effective services at the grassroots. She added that the programme exposed the directors to contemporary approaches to agricultural development, community engagement and social development.
According to her, the training also provided practical knowledge and strategies to improve the coordination and implementation of development programmes at the local government level.
Participants commended OLGE&T for organising the workshop, saying it enhanced their knowledge, encouraged experience-sharing and provided practical insights that could improve agricultural, community and social development initiatives across their respective Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas.
The workshop reflects the Lagos State Government’s continued focus on human capital development and institutional strengthening within the Unified Local Government Service, with the broader objective of promoting efficient, responsive and sustainable service delivery across the state.
