The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has taken its sensitisation campaign to Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area, engaging residents, motorists and business owners on responsible parking practices and the Lagos State Parking Policy.
The exercise, held on Wednesday, was led by the General Manager of LASPA, Mrs Adebisi Adelabu, alongside the Executive Assistant to the Governor on LASPA, Mr Deen Sanwoola, and officials of the Ikorodu West LCDA.
Speaking during the roadshow, Adelabu stressed the need for motorists and residents to understand responsible parking and its importance to traffic management and road safety. She said indiscriminate parking could obstruct traffic, pedestrian walkways and access to businesses and properties.
“Effective parking goes beyond providing spaces; it’s about understanding where, when and how to park responsibly,” she said, urging motorists and business owners to make use of designated parking spaces and keep public roads and walkways accessible to all road users.
She explained that the campaign was part of LASPA’s broader efforts to educate residents on the Lagos State Parking Policy ahead of enforcement, adding that public awareness and cooperation remained essential to achieving an orderly and efficient parking system across the state.
LASPA said it would continue engaging communities and stakeholders to address concerns, promote voluntary compliance and take the parking policy closer to residents across Lagos.
